Leading and developing Kyokushin Karate throughout South Africa since its inception

International Recognition

Kyokushinkaikan Karate South Africa (KKSA) is the official administrative body for the International Karate Organization (IKO) Kyokushinkaikan in Africa. We maintain direct links with the world headquarters in Japan and represent South African Kyokushin interests globally.

Core Values

As a non-political, non-racial, non-sexist, and non-religious amateur sport association, we strive towards the development of the Kyokushin Karate style in South Africa while upholding the traditional values and principles of this respected martial art.

Democratic Structure

The name of the association which shall be democratically represented of Kyokushinkai Karate in South Africa shall be known and referred to as the KYOKUSHINKAIKAN KARATE SOUTH AFRICA (KKSA). We operate through elected officials and regional representatives.

OUR MISSION

WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO

KKSA shall function as an autonomous democratically elected national representative association of all affiliated districts/provinces which subscribe to the rules and regulations of KKSA within the geographic boundaries of South Africa.

To establish Kyokushin Karate as a leading martial art in South Africa, recognized for its discipline, strength, and commitment to character development. We envision a community where the principles of Kyokushin are accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance. KKSA shall promote the study and practice of Kyokushin Karate in South Africa and shall strive to co-ordinate and stimulate co-operation amongst the affiliated districts/provinces so as to ensure uniformity in the instruction of Kyokushin Karate in South Africa. The association shall select and prepare National Teams to represent South Africa at international events as well as the preparation and hosting of such events in South Africa.

Committee Formation

National Tournament

Successful hosting of the national tournament in Gauteng with participants from across South Africa and Africa.

Strategic Planning

Development and implementation of a strategic plan to advance Kyokushin Karate in South Africa.

January 2025

Digital Transformation & Resource Hub

KKSA is embarking on a digital transformation by developing a dedicated website that will serve as a comprehensive resource hub for Kyokushin Karate.
